This Complete 48V Grid-Tie Power System with 2kW Wind and 5.4kW Solar is designed to seamlessly integrate with the national power grid, offering a comprehensive solution for users. The system is especially beneficial for those with high electricity consumption, such as when using electric and plug-in vehicles, swimming pools, air conditioners, and heat pumps.

This system is excellent for windy locations where the wind is consistent or regular, such as coastal areas, islands, and open hilltops. It is not suitable for built-up areas or other locations with poor wind conditions, such as urban environments with many buildings, dense forests, or areas surrounded by tall objects, structures, or vegetation.

By feeding up to 2kw of wind power and 5.4kW of solar power into the large 24kWh battery bank, this system can significantly reduce electricity bills while providing unmatched versatility. By combining wind and solar power, your grid-tie system can produce a continuous power supply. Even at night or during cloudy days, when there is no direct sunlight, the wind turbine can continue to generate electricity. The inverter operates efficiently in grid-tie, hybrid, off-grid, and UPS modes, ensuring uninterrupted power supply even during mains power cuts. Advanced monitoring features enable users to keep track of the battery bank through a mobile app connected via Bluetooth, with optional Wi-Fi connectivity (sold separately) and remote portal monitoring capabilities available for added convenience.

The innovative inverter is fully compliant with G98/G99 standards required for grid-tie installation and is easily upgradable. Users can integrate a separate solar array via an additional MPPT solar controller, which can be added to the system at any time, perfect for more complex roof spaces. Additionally, more wind turbines can be added to the system with separate wind charge controllers.

2kW 48V wind turbine with 3 blades and tail furling mechanism:

This powerful 2kW 48V wind turbine is designed for use in a wide range of locations with medium to strong wind speeds. For example, in areas such as open fields, coastal areas, and high ground. It is suitable for a variety of applications, including power generation for remote locations, industrial sites, agriculture, off-grid and hybrid household power systems, and for telecommunications purposes.

This wind turbine has been specifically engineered to maximise power generation whilst ensuring optimum safety. In addition to the standard braking and safety features, this wind turbine also includes an innovative aerodynamic tail furling mechanism, which causes the blades of the turbine to turn away from excessive incoming wind to prevent damage to the generator.

2kW 48V MPPT wind charge controller with LCD display and dump load:

The wind charge controller uses MPPT boost charging technology to unlock the full potential of your wind power system, ensuring optimal performance. The wind charging circuit is equipped with cutting-edge power tracking and voltage-boosting features, achieving the maximum available power from the wind turbine even in low-wind conditions. It also comes with a turbine braking function and external dump load to protect the battery and the turbine during high winds.

This controller features a user-friendly interface with a digital LCD display that shows essential information such as battery voltage, charging current, connection status of the wind turbine, and battery charging status, while also alerting users to system faults or abnormal values like low battery voltage. Advanced software configuration is enabled via a dedicated free Windows software that connects through an RS232 port, allowing users to set parameters including charging and disconnect voltages, wind turbine overcurrent, wind turbine start voltage, and wind braking settings, along with access to monitoring and historical data.

10 x 540W Sharp NU-JD Monocrystalline Solar Panels with high efficiency PERC cells

These high quality 540W solar panels – manufactured by Sharp, who have over 60 years of experience with solar technology and over 50 million solar panels installed globally – offer superior performance with a 15-year workmanship warranty. This MCS certified panel is perfect for a wide variety of applications, from grid-tie household systems to off-grid installations where mains power is limited or unavailable, such as boats, caravans, campervans, cabins or glamping huts. These high-power panels are ideal for large systems where the time and expense of fitting a high wattage array needs to be minimised.

High efficiency solar cells use PERC technology with 10 busbars to extract more power from a smaller surface area, increasing the output of the panel without increasing the size. Half-cut cell construction decreases internal losses, reduces risk of hotspots and improves performance in shaded conditions. The robust design of the panel is IP68 (waterproof) rated, and tested for resistance against PID, salt mist, ammonia, heavy snow, dust and sand. This thorough testing ensures a long service life even in harsh marine or wilderness conditions. A pair of male / female MC4 connectors are crimped on the end of the cable for easy waterproof connection to other solar panels, extension leads or your existing system.

5500W 48V Iconica Hybrid Inverter:

The Iconica 5500W 48V hybrid grid-tie inverter boasts advanced 3-in-1 hybrid functionality, combining a pure sine wave inverter, an MPPT solar charge controller, and a smart mains charger. It offers highly customisable settings for various parameters (max. feed-in power, charging voltages, battery type, etc.) and advanced communication options, including remote monitoring via a Wi-Fi connection kit. Additionally, the inverter features an illuminated LCD screen displaying real time data. Compatible with various battery types, this inverter is a versatile and efficient solution for modern energy needs.

The inverter features three main operating modes:

Grid-tie mode: Energy generated by wind and solar is fed back to the national grid.

Grid-tie with battery backup: Generated wind and solar power can be used to feed energy back to the grid, supply power to the load and charge the battery.  Mains electricity can also be used to power the load and charge the battery. In this mode the user can configure PV energy supply priority, charging source priority, and load supply source priority. When wind or solar power is not sufficient to power the load, or if mains power is unavailable, the battery will act as a 'back up' and continue to power the load (e.g. at night when there is no solar power, during periods of low wind speed, or during a mains power cut). 'Peak' and 'Off-peak' times for electricity demand can also be set, in order to prioritise either load power supply or battery charging.

Off-grid mode: Utilises wind and solar energy to power loads or charge batteries without feeding power back to the grid, while still allowing mains power usage if necessary. In this mode the user can configure PV energy supply priority, charging source priority, and load supply source priority.

Using a Grid-tie operation with battery backup offers significant advantages over standard grid-tie inverters by ensuring uninterrupted power and reducing electricity costs. During power outages, standard grid-tie inverters shut down completely, leaving users without electricity and wasting solar energy. In contrast, this advanced inverter utilises stored battery power to maintain an uninterrupted power supply (UPS), keeping appliances running and continuing to harvest energy from the widn turbine and the solar panels. As electricity prices rise and subsidies for grid-fed power decrease, maximising self-consumption becomes crucial. The system can prioritise using stored wind and solar energy with 'peak' and 'off-peak' settings to restrict mains power usage during periods where electricity cost is higher, thereby reducing reliance on the grid and lowering overall electricity costs. This approach ensures that wind and solar energy is effectively utilised, enhancing both energy independence and cost efficiency.

For installation advice, please click on the Installation tab.

We can offer a detailed wiring diagram and full technical support for installations and settings upon request. Additionally, an optional mounting system is available for the solar array separately at extra cost, suitable for various types of roofs and mounting surfaces.

Installation and assembly of this wind turbine is extremely simple. For full information, please refer to the detailed user manual supplied with this product (see Documents tab).

This wind turbine requires a mounting pole, which is not included. The base of the wind turbine features a flange connector which can be bolted to a suitable pole. We recommend using a metal pole for mounting (e.g. a scaffolding pole) rather than poles made of timber or plastic, which may pose a safety hazard.

If you need help with installation or have any technical questions we can provide FREE support - please contact us by email or phone (see Contact Us page for more information).
