What is a low-frequency inverter?

Low-frequency inverters offer several advantages over high-frequency models, particularly in terms of surge power capability and robustness. They use a transformer-based design, allowing them to handle high start-up currents from appliances such as motors, pumps and compressors. This makes them particularly suitable for applications where equipment may require considerably more power when starting than during normal operation.

The Stellar inverter provides a nominal output power of 2000W, with a substantial 6000VA surge capacity to accommodate short-duration increases in power demand where equipment has a high initial start-up over the continuous operating power.

Key functions and features:

• Pure sine wave output: Produces a clean AC waveform suitable for a wide range of electrical appliances and equipment.

• 60A mains battery charger: Built-in three-stage battery charging allows the connected battery bank to be charged from a mains or generator AC supply. Charging voltage and current can be adjusted to suit the installation.

• Automatic generator start (AGS): Includes a dry-contact output that can be used to automatically start a compatible generator when the battery voltage falls below a configured level. This function requires a generator with a suitable dry-contact start input.

• Battery type selection: Configurable for lead-acid or lithium batteries, with a battery CAN communication port for compatible lithium battery systems.

• Adjustable low-voltage shutdown: Allows the battery low-voltage shutdown threshold to be configured to help protect the battery from excessive discharge. The AGS dry-contact activation voltage is also adjusted in line with this setting, allowing the generator start-up threshold to be matched to the user's preferred operating parameters.

• Output source priority: Selectable power-source priority settings allow the user to determine how the inverter uses the available mains and battery supplies.

• Utility input voltage range: Selectable wide or narrow AC input voltage range to suit different power sources and installation requirements.

• Configurable AC output: Selectable output voltage of 200, 210, 220V, 230V, or 240V, and frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz.

• Mains charging control: The built-in battery charger can be enabled or disabled according to the requirements of the system.

• Power-saving mode: Reduces the inverter's power consumption when operating with little or no connected load.

• Protection and safety features: The inverter incorporates overload and short-circuit protection to help safeguard the unit and connected equipment during operation.

• User-friendly interface and display: Multi-function display provides information about the inverter's operating status and system parameters, with an accessible interface for configuring settings.

• PC monitoring and configuration options: A USB to USB cable can be used to connect the controller directly to your PC / laptop, where parameters and settings can be monitored and adjusted via a free computer program - Solar Power Monitor.

Please note that this inverter has AC power screw terminals instead of mains power sockets, which means it can be connected to one or several AC mains power sockets, using suitable AC cables. In the UK, 3-pin UK type mains sockets can be used, and in Europe it can be connected to standard European mains sockets.
